- Protection of Worthy Inventions
ThinkVillage provides an expeditious way for inventors to exhibit and commercialize ideas at market rates and with no up-front costs. ThinkVillage assesses ideas using its expert evaluation process, moves qualified ideas forward in the appropriate patent processes (through law firm attorneys and patent agents), and conducts targeted sales efforts to industry and private institutions that should be interested in acquiring access to the intellectual property (IP). ThinkVillage offers this service to individual inventors on a contingency basis predicated upon the transfer of ownership and successful sale or license of the IP.
- Brokerage of Existing IP
ThinkVillage examines existing IP portfolios to determine if it can effectively market and sell the underlying IP. Sources of pre-existing IP that ThinkVillage handles includes: research organizations, companies with IP tangential to current business focus, and entrepreneurs and inventors with idle patents.
- IP Harvesting for Universities and Institutions
ThinkVillage partners with institutions of higher learning, federal laboratories, incubators and other organizations engaged in the creation, license, and sale of IP. It assists with the development of existing programs by offering supplemental services as well as acting as licensee to outsource IP and tech transfer activity. ThinkVillage further assists in the creation of new programs by offering infrastructure and capital to move ideas through the evaluation and registration processes, to ultimately obtain value for the IP from the marketplace.
- Corporate Extension
Corporations correctly focus on core business and yet often become aware of tangential opportunities concerning IP. ThinkVillage thus offers corporations a way to capture additional sources of revenue from this tangential IP by licensing or selling that IP (often in parallel with patent filing activities at an associated law firm). Corporations often release certain innovations back to the original inventors; in these cases, ThinkVillage can assist those inventors to obtain value from their IP and optionally provide fees back to the corporation.
- Infringement Protection and Enforcement
ThinkVillage protects all IP it has under ownership. In the event of infringement, we will likely pursue an equitable solution through either settlement or litigation as necessary. Upon settlement, inventors receive compensation much the same as in a direct sale (except that lawyers involved in the litigation are paid first before ThinkVillage and the inventors). - Trademark Protection
